I. Class Rules:
A. Be Respectful: Respect yourself, fellow students, and teacher at all times!
B. Be On Time: Class will start promptly after the bell. (Bell Ringer!!)
C. Be Prepared: Bring all necessary materials with you.
D. Use Class Time Wisely: Sleeping, reading, or working on other class-work is not permitted.
E. Be Responsible: You are responsible for your actions. Make wise choices.
II. Absences:
A. You have 3 days to make up work or make arrangements to complete missed work.
B. You are responsible for copying notes from a classmate and getting make-up work.
C. Your missing assignments will be in the “MISSED ASSINMENTS” bin. You are responsible for getting this on the day you
return. Please get all work completed and place in the “TURN-IN” box.
D. If you need more time to complete work, just ask. Communication is the KEY!!
III. Homework Assignments/Late Work:
A. Homework will be assigned (almost) every day. It will be graded for completeness and effort. I should be able to read it as well.
Neatness counts. You will receive a number grade from 1 to 10 on the homework. (10 = 100) You can turn in the homework at
the front of the classroom in the “Turn-In” box.
B. I accept late work but time is precious. The longer you put off completing the assignment, the further behind you become. One
point will be deducted for late homework and more deductions will be taken for lack of work or incomplete work.
C. All assignments should be placed in the ‘Turn-In” box at the front. (on-time work, late work, and make-up work…)
IV. Bell Ringer/Exit Slip:
A. There will be a bell-ringer on the board every day. You have exactly 5 minutes to complete it unless otherwise stated. I will grade
it for effort or correct answers depending on the concept.
B. Exit Slips will be given at the end of the block (once or twice a week) and you will be expected to complete it before you leave. I
will grade it for effort or correct answers depending on the concept.
C. If you refuse to complete or turn in either the bell ringer or exit slip, you will receive a zero and you will not be permitted to
make that up.
D. If you are absent, you are not expected to make these up. However, you will have less drop grades at the end of the quarter.
V. Take Note:
A. Talking during the lesson is not permitted. You should be listening and taking notes. If you have a question or don’t understand
something, please raise your hand and I will give you the opportunity to ask your question. Others may have the same question
so DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP!!!.
B. IF I AM TALKING, YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING. You should also respect the announcements and be listening… NOT
TALKING!!!
C. We will work in groups throughout the year. You are expected to use your inside voices and work together. Let me know if you
are placed with someone you can’t work with.
D. I will try to give you time at the end of class to begin working on your assignment. You are expected to work until at least five
minutes before the bell.
E. I will print progress reports throughout the quarter. You should look for errors as well as missing assignments, quizzes that need to
be retaken, etc. A parent signature is required.
F. At the end of the quarter, I will drop 3-5 homework grades, 2-4 bell ringer/exit slip grades, and 1-2 quiz grades.
G. Cheating is NOT tolerated. All those involved will receive NO CREDIT for the assignment.
H. Tutoring is available after school. 5th Quarter is available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (with bus
transportation). However, I will be available to stay after nearly everyday. Check with me if you’d like to stay after.
I. You will be given four emergency bathroom passes each quarter. These passes can be used if you are going to miss important
instructional time. You have unlimited non-emergency passes that can be used when there is no direct instruction being given.
You must use a bathroom pass to leave the classroom for any reason. Each emergency pass not used is worth 5 points each at the
end of the nine weeks and will be added to your lowest test grade.
J. Cell phones/headphones should be put away BEFORE the bell rings. If you do not do so, you are subject to a write up for defiance
at my discretion.
